Being Deliberate

Image
Sometimes I think of my life and I wonder to myself how did I get from point A to point B. Sometimes I know for myself, I’ve just lived life step by step. For the most part of my life, I really didn’t have a plan. You are born and you kind of watch what your elders are doing and you sometimes take their examples as to how life should go. But you know what? That isn’t necessarily so. Sometimes those examples that you rely on may not be your best example to follow. It’s so unfortunate that we don’t get this lesson early on in life. Let me explain, because we are being raised by our parents, we take them a face value that unless they teach us that we have options that are different from their way of thinking, how would you know? I’d like to think that my parents did the best that they could, but because we shared the same household and because I’ve shared some of the things that happened in that household in my blog, there are many areas where I think they could have done better. I ...

Fishers of Men

Image
Earlier in the week I had put out a suggestion pertaining to the continuation of my blog and it was suggested that I do one post a week. I'll start seeing if Sunday would be the best day for me to blog. It always seems that Sunday, I'm refreshed with new ideas since I have had so much happen throughout my week. Today for instance, our Pastor preached on becoming fishers of men and sharing the gospel with people you know and strangers. There was a part of his message that I found amusing and so did he. I couldn't help but think our visual artistry thought of the same image right at the same time, because as soon as I saw him laugh at what he said, I too was laughing at the thought. He was talking about having to clean actual fish and what a messy job it was to clean a salmon he had once caught. Actually it was the Evangelist Billy Graham that taught him how to clean fish. By cutting off the head and gutting the fish and then putting them on a grill for a delicious meal. Th...

Blogging With A Purpose

Image
So to those who are reading my blog, I’ve been thinking that my blog might not be serving a purpose as it did originally when I started writing it. When I first started this blog it was to share my testimony and how great my life has turned out and what a transformation has taken place within me because I am a Christian woman. I shared my testimony because I think for anyone who has gone through some of the stuff I have had to experience, you can see you are not alone and actually when you believe in the power of Jesus, how your life can change for the better. You just have to keep enduring and running your journey race. I also started the blog because my Pastor suggested blogging and sharing my testimony is a way to be of service to other people and sharing the Gospel of Jesus. I wholeheartedly agree. However, I don’t want to just have a blog where now I jut ramble about life, because we are all living similar lives now right and what would make mine more interesting than yours....

People You Meet Along The Way

Image
It’s been quite a few days since I wrote a blog and I thought I probably should get back into the routine of writing a blog in order to keep my mind fresh and to keep those who I am blessed to know current as to the status of my thought processes. I’m sure several of you probably could guess what is going on in my thoughts as you know me so well after all these years. For those who live in California, we are no longer in a drought situation since 25 years ago. Wooohoo!! So we have been experiencing some rather different rain patterns than what we are used to. In fact, we actually were getting soaked up until the beginning of this past week. Marin County was drenched and along with that we had the King Tides — which caused havoc in many of our communities up here in the Northern parts of the Bay Area. My companion and I were locked in as all the roads around our hill were so flooded, my Sentra would not be able to maneuver and thus we were stuck on the hill for four days straight. Thank...

Nothing Compares To You

Image
I think I do my most “profound” thinking when I’m either taking a shower or from 2:00am-4:00am while I should be sleeping, but am awake contemplating all kinds of thoughts. I will admit, these are also the times I take to pray a lot. You see, I don’t like my mind to fill with thoughts that can turn into negative ones — so when I see my thoughts turning, I instantly (in my mind) fall to my knees and start talking to God. If I were to really fall to my knees, due to my age and arthritis, it would take me a very long time to get up again.  I started thinking about church, because I got up at 7:30am, did my usual preparations and turned on my internet tv to Harvest Christian Fellowship and enjoyed Pastor Greg Laurie’s message about temptation. Prior to his message, they always have announcements, a time for giving and an awesome musical worship. My mind kept capturing the dedication of each person that shows up so early in their day to prepare to provide us with a church service...
