Is Your Life Fulfilling?

Image
Happy Flag Day Everyone!! It used to be my thing that on June 14th, while I was gainfully employed, to be sure that sometime during that day that I would sing, It’s A Grand Ole Flag. I sang it yesterday!!! LOL We are so blessed to be living in a country that is by far one of the best countries to be living in. Some of you may disagree because you may be really caught up in politics, but setting those differences aside, we definitely have so much to be thankful for as we walk our life journeys. Do you ever ask yourself what has been your contribution to the world during the days that you have been alive thus far? What are your priorities in this life? Who or what do you live for on a daily basis? Does your life have purpose? I quite often have asked myself these questions throughout my 66 years of life. There have been varying answers at the many different times I’ve contemplated them. There have been seasons where I was very self absorbed with just living and I just get caught up in th...

Freedom Has Constraints

Image
I know it has been a minute since I wrote in my blog. Sometimes life just seems to take you in different directions and life’s priorities change. I have gotten to a point in my life where I feel like I seem to burden myself with activities that take me away from other priorities that I’ve been neglecting. When I do this I tend to put added pressure on myself to still try to squeeze everything in and I stop enjoying doing it. So, I took a break to reprioritize, so that I could have a clearer mind and not feel the pressures that I put upon myself. Today, as always on a Sunday, I was listening at church and had an Ah Hah moment while enjoying a wonderful message by Pastor Jonathan. I’ve always had his idea that freedom is found in being able to do what I want to do. If I don’t have rules, life is funner, right? Many times this false idea has consequences. A prime example is that at a certain point in my life, I had gotten tired of being on a diet and being told what I could eat and what I...

Have You Ever Thought About Heaven

Image
Isn’t life wonderful for the most part? Sure we have those days that are less than perfect and maybe some past memories that aren’t so pleasant, but for the most part, life is such a gift. Admittedly, there were days in my life where I thought how could I live through another day. But getting through those trials, I found that those down days would soon pass and that there were always better days ahead. Some may even question what is the purpose of life. I used to always question that as a very small child, until I grasped on to learning about the Bible and throughout my life studying and learning about what is my purpose. It’s wonderful that I’ve had some amazing mentors who have encouraged me and supported me through my life journey. Today, as I listened to Pastor Greg Laurie speak, for some reason I was very emotional to what he had to share about. The main topic was about Repentance in Luke 15. But he touched upon a couple points that are near and dear to my heart. I’ve spoken of t...

Cultivating Friendships

Image
It has been a minute since I’ve written a blog post. This past week, I was able to reunite with who I consider my Best Friend after an over four year separation due to life changes that seemed to keep us apart. We met when I started working for a school district in 1991. She invited me to have lunch with her and the rest is history. Up until I retired, we had a very close friendship and were able to spend time with each other quite often in our lives (almost daily). Our family times were often spent together. Together we made many memories. We both got to share in our children growing up and the many changes that happen in life. The last time we had spent time together was in 2021, soon after my husband left our family. She traveled by herself to come spend time with me. It was soon after that she and her husband were able to retire and they relocated to Georgia. Soon after she moved, it was my intent to go to Georgia to see her new home and environment, but then I met my companion and...

Don’t Compromise Your Core Values

Image
You know there is a reason why it has always been said by society to not discuss politics or religion when you are amongst a difference of opinion audience. Due to the uprising in differences of opinions these days, it seems the popular phrase everyone uses is, “Let’s agree to disagree.”  They mostly say that when after they ask your opinion and they don’t agree with it. For the most part, I really would prefer not to discuss politics or religion, unless I’m surrounded by like minded individuals who in fact share the same core values. Where might that exist? In the church I attend or at a cause or a politician platform I support. It would be nice if people just left it at that (agree to disagree and change the subject), but usually they want to get their opinion across so their conversation might turn a little more personal than it should and they try to impose their value on you. Now that is where I don’t compromise. A person is entitled to their opinion, but if you have asked me ...

He Is Risen — Happy Easter Sunday

Image
I hope everyone has a blessed day today on this Resurrection (Easter) Sunday. I woke up early, not as early as some of you who may have attended those Sunrise Services, but early enough to watch the 8:00AM Service offered by Harvest Christian Fellowship. Pastor Greg Laurie, the Senior Pastor of Harvest offered a wonderful message about second chances. God not only gives second chances, I think in my case, He has given me more than two. I thank Him for that!! Every Easter takes me back to my childhood and my own children’s memories of days past. One of my most beautiful Easters happened when I was about 4 years old. I remember all the cousins and I went to a park together to celebrate Easter. I come from a large Hispanic family and Easter was a day when most of us joined to go to Trinity Church in El Monte and have a family park gathering. I remember on this particular Easter, my Mom had bought me a beautiful Easter dress with a bonnet and gloves. I remember feeling pretty that da...

What Was Lost Has Been Found!!!

Whenever an opportunity comes for me to share a miracle, I can’t remain silent. The background of my story starts with me volunteering my time to clean up our Community Garden here in Mill Valley yesterday, starting at 7:30AM.  I helped greet all the members of the Community Garden, then I proceeded with weeding, writing our name on our trash cans we utilize in the garden, and then working on our Active Adult garden area, and watering. It was a wonderful event. I’m really enjoying the friendships I am making by being part of this group of gardeners — who by the way are very kind in every way. When I returned home after a frantic morning and made lunch for Tommy and I, I felt something different on my hands and realized that my emerald ring that Tommy had bought for me at the beginning of our relationship was missing. I immediately started looking all around the house — as I had started laundry, opened drawers — I started looking everywhere and praying that I would find my ring — no...
