People You Meet Along The Way
It’s been quite a few days since I wrote a blog and I thought I probably should get back into the routine of writing a blog in order to keep my mind fresh and to keep those who I am blessed to know current as to the status of my thought processes. I’m sure several of you probably could guess what is going on in my thoughts as you know me so well after all these years.
For those who live in California, we are no longer in a drought situation since 25 years ago. Wooohoo!! So we have been experiencing some rather different rain patterns than what we are used to. In fact, we actually were getting soaked up until the beginning of this past week. Marin County was drenched and along with that we had the King Tides — which caused havoc in many of our communities up here in the Northern parts of the Bay Area. My companion and I were locked in as all the roads around our hill were so flooded, my Sentra would not be able to maneuver and thus we were stuck on the hill for four days straight. Thank goodness I had stocked up on food and water supplies, because if I couldn’t get down the hill, I didn’t want to have deliveries made coming up the hill. I could just imagine those who really need to work doing whatever they could to get things delivered to customers and I didn’t want to put anyone in danger — I treat them how I would want someone to treat my child if they were in the business of food deliveries. I was impressed that mail and other deliveries were able to get through the treacherous waters.
So with all this flooding, my companion and I had to think of how we are going to handle the new normal of these King Tides flooding that we have now been experiencing for more than a year. Our conclusion was that we needed to buy a vehicle that would be able to pull us through the waters. We ended up getting a 2026 Nissan AWD SR Kicks. In the process of doing so, I met so many kind people along the way. One being the initial contact person in the dealership who actually showed me the showroom Kicks initially and then had me test drive one. The car was amazing, but the young man who sold me the car was even more amazing. We are test driving along and we started talking about life. I shared with him how Tommy gave me permission to pick out any car I wanted and how spoiled I am by him. He responded to me that I was blessed — KEYWORD — blessed. Then I just said, “Yes, I am abundantly blessed beyond what I could have ever fathomed for my life!!!” Then he proceeded to ask me if I was a Christian. I told him yes I am 100% a Christian and now I knew he was too because he spoke Christianese to me. He admitted he was a Christian and that he attended a small church in his home town. GUESS WHICH CHURCH? He attends a Calvary Chapel. So needless to say, he got an ear full of Jesus from me and I told him how God had sent him to let me know that I was making the right car decision. I told him the fact that he was from Calvary Chapel and a Christian was enough to have me sign the dotted lines for the car ownership. Our conversation that we had was very in depth about where he was in his Christian Journey. He was very young at 21 years old — a Gen Z and I am very curious about this generation, because he is younger but about my own youngest twins age. I told him how I’ve been praying for my boys to love the Lord like he does and that I feel at some point in their lives they will. So I asked him questions and I have him old lady wisdom advise and how he needs to remain a Christian all his life and be consistent!! I told him to not fall into the trap of what the world might tempt him to do — that life at times can be a bit of a challenge as a Christian, but in the latter part of his life, he will not be sorry and he will receive the blessings that God has planned for his life. Oh how I enjoyed his company. I was able to interact with him for two days. The first day for buying the vehicle and the next day for picking it up fully detailed and such. My favorite part of our meeting was hearing about his journey and sharing Jesus with each other.
We agreed that we would keep in touch with each other outside of the Nissan Dealership. I put him on my prayer list (pink book) and he will continued to be prayed on every night before I lay my head down to rest.
But not only was I blessed to meet him, I was also introduced to both of his superiors and let’s talk about blessings upon blessings — these two men were so friendly and beautiful souls. The first day, we all got along and conversed with each other so easily. There was a lot of laughter, etc. Then the second day, when they saw me I actually was hugged by all of them. They complimented me on my outgoing personality, but I told them how comfortable they made me feel with the business transaction, but how the dealership has been taking care of my car needs for almost four years now and how I really appreciated their professionalism. Evidently there is sone leadership transitions going on and I could tell that some restructuring and modifications were being made to the dealership. All I can say, is yesterday and the day before that, I was so blessed to meet these three men. They brought me complete joy and made the car transaction seamless.
This wasn’t my first experience with meeting such wonderful people. It’s happened many times throughout my life’s journey. We should recognize and remember these people who make such a positive impact on our lives. This reminds me of how Mr. Fred Roger’s talks about the people who are going toward the disaster and helping people out and how you can always find the good in the bad circumstances. It’s easy to get caught up in the chaos, but what should be in the forefront of our lives is to get caught up in the good things just as much. We need to count our blessings one by one — especially if it means meeting new people and just getting to know them on a different level than just a casual interaction — you never know how blessed you will be by getting to know them just a little bit better.
