Where Do I Turn?

Have you ever just been in a situation where you think there is no resolution? Or where you might need some guidance, but you don’t want to talk to anyone else about it, because you really don’t want to “hang out your laundry” for other people to know or see? You might be someone who has gotten yourself into the some financial troubles and often asking for help from someone else or sharing your dilemma might be too uncomfortable for you. Are you struggling with situations that you know you shouldn’t be involved, but you are trying to think of ways to get out of, but you don’t know who to talk to? Are you lonely? Are you just struggling with everyday things?

I’ve struggled with many of the things described above. There were times when I got so consumed by my issues that I tried to solve myself. I sometimes felt alone and thought no one would be able to help me sort them out. My pride and my shame got in the way many times.

I have shared with you in previous posts that I knew who God was in a sense at a very young age. I remember I used to call out into the universe and many times, things would work out. Little did I know that the universe included God and that even though I may not have recognized Him like I do now, He was always present in my life. I would say that I actually learned the Gospel at the age of 10 or 11 years old. As I think back now about that time, little did I know that my life would change drastically and trauma would become evident in my life from the ages of 11-13 years old. In the midst of my trauma is when I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior and was baptized at the age of 12 years old. As the trauma occurred, I would call out to God to please save me and help it be discovered so it would stop. I could never understand why my prayers weren’t answered right away, but eventually the situation was discovered and it did stop. In my 13th year of life, many things changed for me along with the trauma, the physical abuse ceased to occur as severe as it was for the longest time in my childhood. It’s unfortunate that the emotional abuse continued. However, I would never cease to pray that things would change. Eventually, though a learning process, the emotional abuse was remedied as well. Through my life experience, I have learned that there are many others who have suffered far worse trauma than I had to endure and I thank God He protected me from the worse stuff. However, because of my experience, I was able to actually counsel others who have gone through similar circumstances and I always felt that by my suffering I was able to relate and help others — so it served a purpose.

So the purpose for my writing this post today is to assure you that when you feel there is absolutely no resolve for whatever you are going through alone, you are never alone. I know there are some of you reading this who probably don’t believe in God, but I can assure you in my living almost 66 years on this earth and reading all kinds of resources on psychological, self help and biblical, God and the Bible is the only consistent resource that makes sense. Time and time again it has been proven that many of the events listed in the Bible have been proven as true and actually have taken place. Even through the times we are living in today, are prophesy and contained in the Bible.

So my challenge to you today is that even if you don’t believe in God, then call out to the universe — I say that, because that is where I started. Then when you see results and possible answers to what you are calling out to be remedied for you, you may want to delve further into studying more about how the universe was created — but don’t stop there, open a Bible and start reading it. You will find scripture for every question you have asked yourself, contained somewhere in the Bible — I guarantee it. And because technology has come so far now with AI and everything, you can actually type in the search engine, where in the Bible can I find scripture related to ____________? I can guarantee, something will pop up and you will be surprised. When I started studying scripture, I remember how sometimes in awe I would get when I would read something that totally related to me. That my friends is no coincidence. You will learn that the Godhead consists of three persons who are One — The Father, The Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit (Guide). You will learn that Christians are in fact, not perfect. In fact, many of the people that Jesus called to follow him were less than perfect. Many of the individuals you will read about in the Old Testament that were used by God were far from perfect. ALL PEOPLE ATTENDING CHURCHES are as imperfect as you. You may find some members who are more judgy than others, but you don’t attend church for them, you attend church to learn and be trained up on how you can find purpose in your life and then share it with others. You are attending church for God and to worship Him.

I will tell you this that it has been proven through research that when you voice your need out loud or toward something such as God “the invisible one” or write it down (remember diaries?) there will be a psychological relief to you rather than internalizing it and feeling that you are alone. There may be some actual moves you may have to exercise in order to remedy your situation, but I can assure you guidance and direction will “magically” transpire to help you out of your situation. I use the word magically loosely, because I actually have faith and don’t believe in magic. I call everything that happens for the good in my life blessings.

Now in my posts, I can quote all kinds of scripture to support my dialogue, but I want you to search and find those words for yourself (use Google or your favorite search engine). You can start with John 3:16 which is a great base to begin. There are verses that support where you can turn to in times of trouble and where you can lay your burdens. For myself and as you have probably guessed, when I need help in those complex situations, I turn to Jesus. I pray, sometimes quietly, sometimes audibly, sometimes through tears, sometimes in desperation and sometimes just to talk about everything and to say thank you for my blessings. You can pray anywhere — you don’t have to shut your eyes, especially if you are driving. You can be lying down, standing, sitting, driving, swimming, exercising. Many times I look upward!!! I keep a prayer journal and sometimes it is as I am journaling — so prayer writing in a sense. You might consider a prayer journal as the one I have has areas for verses (scripture) that have touched me, along with reflection, a place for gratitude and then of course the things you want to pray on.

I pray that the person reading this post is the one who was needing a little inspiration on the matter of where to turn. May God Bless You and have a great day!!
