My Organizational Chart
In business there is a visual grid that describes the levels of functions and importance of each position within that organization — an organizational chart. Whether you realize it or not, as we live our lives, we develop our own charts. Mine is described as follows. I challenge you to think of your life and where each person who has touched your life would be placed. I don't mean any offense to anyone who may see where they are placed on my perceived chart -- it's just as I see it. A lot has to do with how often each person directly affects my life on a daily, monthly, yearly basis. This is the first time I've shared this organizational chart concept with anyone.
First and foremost, the Godhead is at the top of my chart. Then I have what I call my core ten. This includes myself, my companion, my four children, their spouses and my grandchildren.(Family dogs included.) Then I have my sub-core ten. This includes my sister and her family, my nephews and their families. The individuals in these categories know me warts and all and have immediate access to my life in all things. Obviously, with my core ten, they get my full attention along with immediate access to me. My core ten also can have a great influence on my decision making on important issues that affect my life.
I'm mentioning Pastor Greg Laurie (and his family) in this section as well, because I don't know where to place him. If there is an individual who I have not met in this life, but has made such a huge impact on my Christ relationship since 1977 -- he is in the top hemisphere here.
Then comes my parents (unfortunately my parents have become diluted due to extenuating circumstances), my aunts and uncles, cousins, best/close friends (Close Church Family), I have one ex-husband who I still consider a very close family member. Then comes friends in every capacity of my life (Church Family). Then acquaintances. Then strangers. My enemies (if I have any).
Admittedly, I don't know where to place my ex-husbands (one is deceased) -- so I'll remain silent except for the one mentioned above.
There are times when lines cross on this chart depending on the circumstances affecting it. Sometimes when I have a situation that involves my core twenty people, I will solicit the advice from individuals not as close to the situation to gain a neutral perspective. I have several relatives and friends who have for seasons crossed into the more immediate family levels. I've noticed that when anyone on this chart goes through a crisis, they then become a priority and all attention is on them. Many of the individuals on this chart have extended me the same love, compassion and grace -- I recognize what they set aside in their lives or the people on their charts to make time for my issues. I will do the same on their behalf. It is always important to love one another and to uphold each other as needed. The greatest commandment of all is to love one another -- I see people through the eyes of Jesus when I don't quite see eye to eye with them.
I have a deep love and compassion for everyone who is listed on this perceived chart. We are all equals and my respect for their individuality is always a priority for me. It's just how my life works as I go through my days.
I have a prayer journal and I can assure you that most individuals on my chart are on my list of prayers. I even have some acquaintances who have affected my life in one way or another on my list. Sometimes my prayers are more specific to the circumstances that they may need prayer to get through. I pray for them whether or not they have a relationship with Christ -- I pray for people I have never met nor do they have an immediate impact on my daily life, but have affected my life in some way. And yes, I pray for governmental leadership and world leaders. I feel like I'm doing my part by supporting them through supernatural realms along with those that are tangible for me to help them.
I'll share with you that this concept actually woke me up this morning at 3:00AM, the time I started to write the first three paragraphs. I completed the post by mid day. And this is how my brain works.
