Clarification

Today as I listened to my pastor's sermon, it made me think about my blog and how I am sharing my testimony of my life and its purpose. I am not a biblical theologian by any means. I have a very deep conviction to biblical truths and believe that my purpose in life is to convey what God has accomplished for me in my 65 years. As a believer, I quote scripture as I know that anything you may have experienced in this life actually has scripture that coincides with any subject I may writing about. As I mentioned before in my blog, I actually have a glitch in my memorization skills when it comes to where to find these scriptures just off the top of my head, so I rely heavily on a concordance or google search.

As I have been living my life, I've read through the Bible more than several times to attempt to get a better understanding of what it contains that is pertinent to me. For the longest time I would read it and quite frankly, there were several parts that I found completely uninteresting or hard to understand. Thus, I started to take studies particular to each book for a better understanding. I also read a lot of resources by different Christian authors to learn through what they are teaching. Through this process of learning, prayer is at the forefront.

There have been times in my life where I have been on fire for the Lord and there have been times where I was distracted and my focus veered. One thing I have learned is once you give your heart to Jesus, you are always His. By His spirit (Holy Spirit), He brings you back every time. I've shared the many instances when I have been deep in my flesh that He has sent messengers to remind me of where my heart and life need to be. I've also shared how I have called out to Him in my suffering and He has always answered and brought me out and through those storms. He has restored me several times. Devotion, worship and prayer helps me to remain focused.

I have also described to you through this blog, that because I am also a free thinker and believe that my relationship with God through Jesus Christ is personal to me, that I don't have to agree 100% with some of what is taught to me by religious leadership. This by no means is to be interpreted that I am diluting what the Bible states as true, but rather by interpretation of what my understanding is of the God I serve and His word. I stand firm that the same God in the Old Testament is the same God in the New Testament. Any changes as to what is required of mankind was changed as the result of God becoming visible through Jesus Christ and His ultimate sacrifice of self on the cross for each and every one of our sinful selves. I recognize that there is nothing I can do or by good works that will get me any closer to heaven. By faith and through God's grace and mercy through Jesus is my only way. The only one who can put me in hell is myself.

Even through all this, I know and recognize that I am a sinner and imperfect and fall short.

Romans 3:23 -- "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

John 3:16 -- "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." ( I stand on this promise!!)
